COMPETITION RULES
Good, Clean Fun is a speed- and precision-based Espresso Martini competition, where competitors wear an event-provided white t-shirt, step behind a pristine bar station, and make the quickest round of Dry Espresso Martinis they can while staying as clean as possible!
This is a stage for bartenders to show off their efficiency, cleanliness and skills, all while making the tastiest Dry Espresso Martinis they can.
-
When called to the bar by the emcee, competitors will be expected to:
Step behind the bar and confirm they have all their equipment.
Set up their station and tools on a gridded white towel, in three minutes.
Raise their hands above their head for a countdown.
Make four Dry Espresso Martinis as quickly and cleanly as possible!
Raise their hands above their head upon completion.
Competitors will be expected to set their tools and make their drinks on the white towel the whole time, and be required to follow the signature Dry Espresso Martini recipe for Good, Clean Fun.
-
Each venue will provide all competitors with a full set of tools, ingredients, cheater bottles, product, and glassware to make their Dry Espresso Martinis. Every competitor will also receive a fresh gridded white towel to lay tools out on and make drinks over, and a fresh white Good, Clean Fun t-shirt to wear while competing.
Competitors are not required to use all the equipment provided; free pouring is permissible, so long as competitors are pouring no more than 1.5 oz. of Absolut and 0.75 oz. of Kahlúa per cocktail. -
Each competition's judge(s) will record every competitor's time from when the countdown ends to when they raise their hands above their head to indicate they're done competing. From there, performance will be assessed on four criteria via a standard scorecard:
Are there three espresso beans per Dry Espresso Martini?
Do the drinks taste like Espresso Martinis?
Did they get any stains on their gridded white towel?
Did they get any stains on their white t-shirt?
Penalties will be issued as time additions to each competitor's final recorded time if any of the criteria are not met. An example of a filled out scorecard can be found below.
The competitor with the lowest overall time will win their competition and local prize, and may be selected to compete in one of the two Good, Clean Fun championships for the grand prize of a trip to the Absolut Akademi experience in Åhus, Sweden!Competitors with the top 10 times across the East and West regions will be selected to face off in the East and West championships respectively.
-
In the event of a tie, the final two competitors will be asked to face off and make two Dry Espresso Martinis as fast as they can, judged only on their time and a taste test.
